Catalysts and Substrates
Precise catalyst control is the best known method of controlling nanotube and nanowire diameter. Atomate has devoted significant time to development and testing of catalysts and substrates to support your research and production goals. Our catalysts can be tailored for specific needs, including dispersion and particle size. We have a complement of standard substrates and we can assist in custom substrate design and substrate fabrication.
Catalysts for single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) synthesis
- FeCl nanoparticles on a silicon oxide substrate
- Iron nanoparticles derived from ferritin precursors – used to grow 1 nm – 2 nm diameter SWNTs
- E-beam evaporated Fe films
Catalysts for most nanowire systems
- Colloidal gold particles
- Nickel evaporated films
- Aluminum sputtered films
Substrates for nanotube and nanowire synthesis
Iron nanoparticles on SiO2 substrate suitable for growing single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs)Atomate can provide a range of blank or pre-diced Si and Si/SiO2 substrates for your research. Custom substrates can be fabricated in our clean room facilities, which contain equipment for e-beam evaporation, wet and dry etching, electroplating, lithography, ALD, and more. We also have characterization tools such as AFM, SEM, optical microscopes, and electrical probe stations available.
